Artist Statement

My art is a visual exploration of the delicate balance between humanity and nature often delving into the complex relationship of ownership and enclosure along with nature’s boundless ability to break free. As an artist deeply enamoured with water and a firm believer in The Blue Mind philosophy, my work seeks to portray the connection we share with water and the impact it has on our well-being.

In my creative process, I draw inspiration from the notion of humans attempting to claim dominion over nature, enclosing it within borders and structures. Through my art, I question the implications of such actions, reflecting on the consequences of our attempts to assert control over the natural world. The themes of ownership and enclosure serve as a powerful metaphor for the broader context of how humanity interacts with the environment and the toll it takes on both ourselves and nature.

As a lover of water, I find solace, inspiration, and tranquillity in its ever-changing presence. The Blue Mind belief, which underscores the positive impacts of water on mental health and creativity, becomes an integral part of my artistic narrative. Through my work, I aim to evoke the soothing and contemplative nature of water, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a visual journey that elicits a sense of calm.

In my artistic practice, I employ a variety of mediums, from fluid and expressive watercolours, controlled oils to translucent and free-flowing  alcohol-based inks. Water often finds its way into my creations, either as a central element or as a subtle presence, symbolizing the enduring connection between humans and the natural world. I also incorporate resin in some pieces to further highlight a harmonious relationship with water.

Ultimately, my artistic journey is a testament to the power of artistic expression in fostering a deeper understanding of our place in the world as I aspire to contribute to a collective consciousness that cherishes and protects our planet.
